Designs of Darkness - Gears Tattoo

Inspired by Da Vinci's sketches, this tattoo caught my eye immediately and has become a staple in my ink collection. The only thing I really really wish is that it was a full body suit - I can just see the thigh gears in my mind. Still, it's hard not to be drawn to the beautifully inked gears, delicate lines, artistry and balance of this tattoo. A very clothing friendly tattoo, Gears comes in undershirt, shirt and jacket layers included for L$250 - a bargain for body art of this quality.

Initially I was skeptical about the fully inked left breast, but when I put on the tattoo I realized that it was sufficient "coverage" to be able to wear several "lifted" tops that had been languishing in the closet. The back design looks wonderful with either low backed dresses or midriff tops, and the sleeves alone are interesting enough to carry a look. I was very happy to find this shop - and to have the chance to chat with new designer Rezit Sideways. As well as tattoos, you will find quite an assortment of well done wings, pasties, stockings and a personal favorite - the Barbed Wire and Roses Tiara.

SLink - Button Down Dress Shirt

I barely made it to get in the promised post tonight, but I did make it and boy, was it worth the wait. Yep, superb detailing, exquisite texturing, wardrobe classics. I took a hint from the display and did indeed buy them all. At L$600 for the fat pack of 6 colors or L$200 each, with such versatile colors as teal, gold, black, grey, red and white, the fat pack is an easy buy once you see the Button Down Dress Shirt by SLink.

There are two versions of the top, with and without sculptie waist section being the difference, and they come in jacket layer only. You can then add various combinations of prim cuffs, collar and tucked in waist to refine the look, depending on the skirt, pants or shorts you pair with the shirt. I'm positive that anything short of a formal ballgown (and I didn't try one of those) will look spectacular.

Of course, you could just pick up the Buckle Dress Pants while you are there (L$230 each, L$690 fat pack) in Brown, Green, Red, Black, Silver and Teal (again, the fat pack is a terrific deal) and instantly have a multitude of options. The pants come in underwear layer with two lower leg prims and combine thoughtful textures with understated detailing in the buckle. So, like the sign says, buy 'em all! In my humble opinion, the Button Down Dress Shirt is a must have, so...

iNFLiCT - Eternity Awaits

Well, here's the secret to getting me out of my clothes faster than anything else - a fabulous new body modification and a photography studio. Heck, for something as terrific as Eternity Awaits, the studio is probably optional. More body art than ink, this scarification styled design is absolutely breathtaking. iNFLiCT makes many of my favorite tattoos but they have raised the bar with their recent additions.

Strongly Maori in inspiration, the patterns surround and accent the breasts in the front and define the spine and shoulders in the back. Small matching patterns are included in a stocking layer for the calves and are absolute perfection with ever so high heels, though I love this with a simple tank and jeans as well.
.
Definitely not cheap at L$749, Eternity Awaits is worth every single Linden in impact - I flat out love it and haven't taken it off since I bought it. There are several more similar pieces that I will be investing in over the coming weeks as well. As with all of iNFLiCT's designs, Eternity Awaits comes with every layer in Light, Medium, Dark and Tintable for ease of wear with any outfit. As a bonus there are two facial attachments named "The Heart" in black and tintable that accent the left eye (unfortunately the one obscured by my favorite hairstyle).

I honestly don't think that my pictures could ever do Eternity Awaits justice, but I can promise you that any one of the iNFLiCT creations in this style will make you the center of attention and target of compliments.

Insolence - Melanie Lingerie

What can I say - I've been in a lingerie mood lately and when I got my Insolence group announcement about a new "sunny" lingerie set, I could hardly wait for the pictures to open. It was worth the wait and doubly worth it once I was trying them on - a perfect light sunny spring set. To quote camilla Yosuke from the announcement:

"The Melanie ensemble is a simple shaped, though highly detailed embroided tulle set. Every single flower and leaf was hand drawn between two orange juice sips, on the lightest tulle that I could find in the fabric stock."

What that all adds up to is gorgeous - though I am glad that a distinctly non-springish black was included in the six color choices. You can choose from white, black, cocoa, teal, red and violet at L$290 per set. Each set has both a corset top and a bra top in two layers, undershirt and shirt. The panties are also in both the pant and underwear layer and every set has matching stockings included.
.
I found that the set was perfect underneath sweaters and jackets and that the corset option was particularly flexible as a separate underlayer for other outfits. The detail on the sides (yes, the sides) of the panties is terrific and makes them a nice touch peeking out from under low cut jeans.
.

Melanie is now available at the Insolence Main Store at Venom.

addiXion - Flower Lust Tattoo

I've been doing a lot of tattoo shopping lately and figured it was high time I did an article on one of the gorgeous pieces by addiXion. From florals to tribals and everything in between, addiXion simply has great ink. My most recent purchase and current favorite with short skirts and low backs is the new Flower Lust tattoo.

As always, the set comes in full body upper and lower layers with high, medium and low tan versions of each. There are also high and medium tan lower body versions in stockings, though none for the low tan option. The tattoo itself is a full floral down one side of the back from shoulder to thigh, wrapping slightly through the hips. The sweep of the tattoo's motion is clear enough that the pattern continuation is obvious even if separated by a skirt or shorts.

The design is a little pricey, even for a full body set, at L$690 - but I expect to get a lot of wearings out of it, so worth it in the long run. Certainly the sheer number of options in tone and layer make the extra flexibility worth the extra lindens.

The Basics - Redux

It's been a few months and some things have changed. While I still love my Fleur skins and pull them out all the time for outfits, my day to day look has switched to ::Tuli:: S5 (S6 coming soon) skins. Most often I'm in either the medium or the tan tone - natural, diva, classic or glam makeups. Tattoos still lean heavily to addiXion and iNFLiCT, though the Gecko design from Muisim is getting a lot of play time.

My favorite hair and the one I return to over and over is The Poynter by Armidi, but I recently discovered the Detour textured flexi hairs and am madly in lust, so we'll see. Writer is about all I've worn since buying it (in two colors, no less). I've looked at a lot of eyes and lashes in different colors and styles and I really don't think they are going to ever be changing - I stumbled across Glanz eyes early on and I simply love them. Along with the ::Tuli:: makeups, they are just perfect for me.
.
I suppose since folks have started asking me where my hair, skin, etc. came from, I should throw out a little advice to the "even newer than I" residents. If I had to pick just one tip to hand out it would be to invest in a good skin and shape. Pick up every demo you can find and keep trying combinations until one "fits". Don't hesitate to delete the ones that aren't perfect - the right one will come along and you won't be sifting through the maybes to find it when you have the L$ to buy it. And speaking of buying it - skin and shape are not the place to save Lindens, trust me.

iNFLiCT - My Gift My Purpose Tattoo

It's interesting - if asked about my favorite tattoos, I don't know that my iNFLiCT inks would be in the top spot, but they get worn far more than any others I have on a day to day basis. One of the things I really appreciate in a tattoo is the option of multiple layers in multiple shades (dark, medium, light and tintable) which rarely leaves me without a tattoo option for almost any outfit. iNFLiCT definitely accommodates and will fill your inventory with shade and layer options. I used the medium shade for the photos this time so that the patterns would be clear and clean but I normally wear the light versions as they look better against paler skins.

What drew me to this particular tattoo was the shawl pattern on the front which adds to a multitude of necklines and the "absolutely perfect in a backless dress" design of the full back. Normally I prefer full body tattoo sets, but this one is so outstanding on it's own, I couldn't really imagine a lower body that would enhance rather than detract. Expect to pay L$199 for My Gift My Purpose and expect to wear it often - especially with the skin baring spring and summer fashions on the way.

The Basics - Hair, Eyes, Tats & Skin

I rarely change my hair or skin and never change my shape, so you won't see those detailed unless an outfit just demands a different style (like the Aoife outfit just screamed for the Fleur Vivant Feline Skin). If you pass me in Second Life, I'll probably be wearing The Poynter by Armidi hair, though my SL profile shows me in Short Crop 2 by Aveda which I pull out when I want a more dramatic look. I'm always seeking great short cuts and these are two of the best I've found.

I have a variety of skins, but am most often seen in one of the Minnu Model or Fleur Skins (formerly Tete A Pied). I most commonly wear light or lightly tanned skins with strong colors to complement my outfits. My eyes are from Glanz and they are, IMHO, exquisite. For the ladies that love the ink, consider looking at addiXion and iNFLiCT - my tattoo tip is to look for designs you adore that come in all layers and several levels of intensity. Very dark tattoos on light skins tend to look painted on rather than inked - a lighter shade will enhance rather than overwhelm an outfit or skin.
